So being another rainy day, we decided give the Shrinky Dinks a try today. Kids love Shrinky Dinks.! What is it about them? Is it the way they shrink in the oven and turn into miniature objects? The true transformation of something they knew was just a piece of flimsy plastic they colored on? Whatever it is, kids just go crazy for Shrinky Dinks; at our house anyway!
We purchased a pirate pack. As all the little pieces were colored crazy ways, they were ready for the heat. I loved watching those four little eyes peering into the toaster oven window. The plastic was shrinking before their very eyes! Watching those expressions of surprise is a site to behold! The boys were watching in total disbelief commenting and shouting the entire 60 seconds it took for the dinks to shrink! Such a powerful moment when they were removed from the oven. Mouths hung open in silence! It really happened ~ they shrunk to what was now a puny size of colored plastic to me but to the boys, they were treasures!
Rainy day activity a success!
That sounds like a great idea. Must check out if they sell those in Europe too.
